Hi, I’m Mel Williamson
In our sessions, you’ll find a space that feels calm, compassionate, and light.
We’ll work collaboratively to identify your goals and develop practical strategies that fit your needs. Whether you’re looking for tools to cope with daily stressors or want to address deeper patterns, I’ll support you in creating meaningful change and building a life that feels more balanced, authentic, and aligned with your values
In our work together, we blend creative expression with evidence-based therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and values-focused approaches to navigate challenges like low self-esteem, anxiety, and self-doubt. Therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy—our sessions can be a space for exploration, creativity, and even moments of lightness. At times, playful or creative exercises can help process emotions in ways that feel engaging and freeing.
Sensory-based strategies, informed by polyvagal theory, are incorporated to support nervous system regulation and reconnection with the body. Through creative visualization, movement, or breathing techniques, grounding practices can be explored to create new pathways for healing.
Self-compassion is at the heart of this work. By learning to treat yourself with kindness and understanding, it becomes possible to build a deeper sense of acceptance, confidence, and ease.

My background
I have had the privilege of working with people in hospital and health settings, as well as in higher education, helping individuals navigate life transitions, adjust to change, and discover their sense of self.
Like many of my clients, I’ve experienced self-doubt, made decisions based on societal expectations, felt anxious and overwhelmed, unsure of where I fit in. Before becoming a therapist, I began my career in the banking industry and experienced what I now recognise as burnout at 23. This led me to a career change after what I now consider a quarter-life reflection (not a crisis!), prompting me to pursue a Master of Social Work. It was a pivotal moment in recognizing my own worth and the courage it takes to follow an authentic path.
I now embrace my introversion and high sensitivity as strengths, especially in my work as a therapist. These traits allow me to connect deeply with others, helping them navigate difficult emotions and areas in need of healing.
I am a member of the Australian Social Workers Association, a registered Medicare provider (rebates available), and a member of the Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Association of Australia. I remain committed to ongoing professional development to support my clients' needs.
